Industrial Welded Silo Fabrication

Volume Capacity of 4000-6500 Cubic Feet

As part of its comprehensive suite of industrial fabrication services, Tech-Fab is pleased to offer the custom design and manufacture of welded silos. Standard silos have volume capacities in the range of 4,000 to 6,500 cubic feet, but we are also equipped to deliver custom-sized storage vessels to suit your unique project requirements. While our engineers can build silos tailored to meet any industrial need, most storage vessels are designed for applications including:

  • Chemical storage
  • Food storage
  • Grain storage
  • Manufacturing
  • Rendering
  • Water treatment

Storage Silo Design Criteria and Considerations

While silos may appear to be simple, straightforward structures, they must actually be intricately designed and carefully constructed to guarantee (1) strong performance in demanding field conditions, and (2) compliance with industrial standards. The following key considerations must be addressed:

  • Wind resistance (force shape factors & gust-factor coefficients)
  • Seismic resistance, which accounts for the seismic zone of the silo’s end location
  • Roof loads, live loads & dead loads
  • Weather resistance (snow resistance & waterproofing)
  • Interior conditions (temperature, humidity, airtightness)
  • Flow type (funnel or mass)
  • Building code & zoning requirements

Tech-Fab’s engineering team draws on more than 15 years of experience in the architectural and structural fields, ensuring that our vessels perform as expected for the entire course of their operational lifetimes. We support a comprehensive range of applicable construction codes, including AISC, AWS, ASTM, and OSHA standards.
